A while back, a tormented soul was complaining about a guru product.
The system was simple:
Build a list by driving traffic to an opt-in page
Follow up via e-mails
Sell stuff to your subscribers
And it works like gangbusters.
In fact, Founding Father of Internet Marketing, Ken MacCarthy revealed that:
“The majority of the money online is being made with a squeeze page, a sales letter and relentless follow-up via e-mail”
Yet our friend was complaining.
His list was unresponsive. They ignored his e-mails and when they opened them, they refused to buy. Clearly, something was wrong with the guru’s system.
Let me give a bird’s eye view of the matter at hand.
Regarding traffic, I have to ask:
What type of traffic did you drive to your opt-in page? Were they proven buyers or freebie seekers? If they were proven buyers, are they still interested in what you’re promoting? Or they don’t need it anymore?
Let me give you an example in the weight-loss niche.
Most people will fail to lose weight no matter what. They’ll buy one, two or more products. And they’ll keep searching for a magic solution.
If you’ve created a list of people interested in weight loss, then yes – they will buy a product if they feel that your offer is legit.
Yet, a portion of the market succeeds in losing weight.
So what happens then?
They either stop caring about weight loss…or their goals change.
For guys, it’s not strange to become interested in muscle gain. Girls, on the other hand, might try Yoga.
So ask yourself:
What’s my lists main goal right now? Am I offering what they need? Or do I allow my preconceived notions to cloud my judgment?
Secondly. what are you actually writing in those e-mails? Are you sharing dry facts? Do you fill them with content they can find elsewhere? Do you sound like a copy-pasted version of everyone else in your niche?
Most list owners treat their subscribers as numbers.
Sorry man, but they’re people like you and me.
You need to open up…show that you are human as well…and prove that you understand them.
They have anxieties, worries, fears, hopes, dreams, desires and much more. If you don’t connect with them emotionally they will ignore you forever.
The above is ESPECIALLY true if you’re selling the same products as anyone else online. Dry content ain’t gonna cut it. There are thousands of people before you who’ve tried to do the same…and failed.
It’s not a system problem – it’s an approach problem.
The guru can show you the “how to” but you need to bring up your A-game.
If you’re doing what everybody else is doing, guess what?
You’ll be dead in the water.
Till next time,
